Itinerary of our road trip in new brunswick
We chose to make a loop in New Brunswick starting with the Northeast of the province. We thus went down Acadia before joining the Bay of Fundy in the south of the province before going up again by the West via Fredericton. In this sense, we have saved the most interesting stages of the road trip for the end. A rise in power of places to discover
Finally, regarding the weather during this road trip in New Brunswick in August, we had 3 days/nights of rain. Especially in the Bay of Fundy where the weather changes as fast as the tides. The rest of the time, we had a great sun and temperatures around 20° – 25°. As New Brunswick had reopened its borders to tourists for less than a month, there were not many people: Quebecers in Acadie and Ontarians in the Bay of Fundy.
Mount sagamook summit mount carleton park
Arrived the day before in New Brunswick, we start with a day in Mount Carleton Park. A sporty day with several hikes on the program in one of the most beautiful parks in New Brunswick. Lost in the middle of nowhere, Mount Carleton Park is home to several mountains, including Mount Carleton, which is the highest in the province (820 m). This is also how we start our day in Mount Carleton Park. A beautiful challenging hike with an incredible 360 degree panorama. At the top: mountains, lakes and above all trees as far as the eye can see. Then we continue with Mount Head, Mount Sagamook and Williams Falls. In short, a great sports day in the heart of nature in this must-see park in New Brunswick.
Lighthouse Grande Anse Acadie New Brunswick CanadaPokeshaw – Road Trip New Brunswick Canada
Today is a day on the road: 350 km between Mount Carleton Park and Miscou Island. We still mark 3 stops on the road: Pokeshaw, Grande-Anse and Caraquet. Pokeshaw is home to a small beach and two large rocks which themselves are home to birds. A belvedere allows you to observe Pokeshaw Rock. In Grande-Anse, we simply stop to admire the lighthouse in the colors of Acadia. Finally, Caraquet is the cradle village of Acadia. The blue, white and red flags adorned with the yellow star are ubiquitous in the city.
Lighthouse of Miscou Road trip New Brunswick
We start by reaching the Miscou Lighthouse, at the very end of the island EireTrip Travel Blog Then we descend the island stopping at Lake Frye (birdwatching), the Bog Trail and Treasure Island at the very end of Wilson Point. We then cross the imposing Miscou bridge, under which we slept the day before. Then we will see the magnificent and original church of Saint-Cécile and then walk in the Lamèque Ecological Park.
Lighthouse Shippagan Miscou Lameque New Brunswick
On leaving the island, we stop at the Shippagan aquarium, not to visit it but to discover the lighthouse and the 2 km boardwalk that runs along the water. On the way to the National Park, we make a short stop on Île au Foin where there is a beautiful lighthouse in the colors of Acadie, small beaches and a boardwalk unfortunately not maintained and therefore closed.
Renowned for its beaches, we spend a quiet day in Kouchibouguac National Park. On the program, the 2 beaches of the park: Kellys and Callanders. Kellys Beach is accessed via a 500m walkway and sits at the end of long golden sand dunes (7km). As for Callanders Beach, it overlooks the Saint-Louis Lagoon and its water is reputed to be the warmest in New Brunswick. To end the day, we sail with PhocaTour to observe the many seals and birds that inhabit the Bay of Saint-Louis. A great moment with a shock team!
Bouctouche Dune Road trip New Brunswick Canada
Wake up gently with the 800-meter boardwalk on the Bouctouche dunes. Then head to Parlee Beach at Parlee Beach Provincial Park in Shediac. A beautiful, long, supervised and cleaned beach (no seaweed) which is one of the most beautiful beaches in North America. We take advantage of being in Shediac to finally taste some Acadian culinary specialties. For that, head to Menu Acadien, a small canteen offering Acadian specialties. We are testing Poutine Rapée ($4.35) and Poutine à trou (dessert made from apples, grapes and cranberries). Suffice to say that Poutine Rapée has nothing to do with Quebec poutine. It is very very special!
